How to understand the classical Greek literary criticism: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle?
#1
I have been reading the literary theories for months now. However, when it comes to classical theories and legends like Aristotle and Plato, understanding them becomes difficult. I want to know from the members here that how can students of literature understand the classical theorists? Is there a way that we can apply and learn those figures and their inputs better? For example, works like Ion by Plato and then Aristotle's response to it in Poetics, how can we understand these canons of classical literary criticism in a simple and effective manner?
